THIS I BELIEVE
Who has always been there for you, through good or bad? FAMILY! Yes, I believe family is everything, whether you get along with them or not, they still manage to love and care for you.
As I have gotten older, my family has always been there for me no matter what, helping me up when I fail or watching me succeed. My family has always been very supportive and is always there to guide me on a good path and to show me right from wrong.
I've always been told, “Stay in school and make us all proud. We don’t want you being like your cousins and not finishing school.” My family isn’t perfect. Some of my cousins never made it out of high school or just gave up, everyone always hoped and expected a lot more from me. Although sometimes I never looked at them in disappointment, they helped me a lot in a way telling me to stop being lazy on school work, get up on time, and to just always do my best. As I strive to do the best I can to make them all proud of me, I am thankful that they’ve all done so much to help me stay on track.
From many family personal experiences one including watching my 3 uncles and aunt abusing drugs and abandoning their children with family members and not caring where their lives would lead them, i myself had a father who was incarcerated for 15 years of my 17 year life it made me upset and sad and made me want to be rebellious at times but thanks to my mother and grandparents that kept pushing me to go on the right path to continue school. Unfortunately another thing that made me very sad was to have experienced the death of a very close uncle. Some of his words to me include “Never Give Up Araceli” and “Never Change”. Having so many personal experiences helped me a lot and realize how much family is important especially like watching my mother raise me as a single parent while my father was incarcerated for many years, I've seen her struggle for so many years and it makes me very happy and proud to say my mother graduated from high school something none of her family had ever done. That is how our family grows together by learning from each other's mistakes.
It’s my senior year in high school now and I am still learning, not just in school but from my family as well, that all I want to do is make them all proud. I want to hear them cheer and yell out as they hear my name while I walk across the aisle to grab my diploma on the day of graduation.
So yes, I believe family is everything, and by everything, I mean happiness, guidance, and love.
